<p>Greetings! This was a busy month. The Project goals RFC has been accepted, and we're officially in the 2026 goals period. At the time of writing, RustWeek is exactly one week away. Highlights include:</p> <ul> <li>Sid Askary of Futurewei joined to discuss a proposal to create an AI-focused research initiative within the Rust Foundation. He shared an early draft and took questions from the board. The board will revisit the proposal in future meetings as it develops.</li> <li>The <a rel="external" href="https://github.com/symposium-dev">Symposium</a> project applied to join the RIL, and the board voted to accept the application. <p>We have been porting the crates.io frontend from Ember.js to Svelte 5 (<a rel="external" href="https://github.com/rust-lang/crates.io/issues/12515">tracking issue</a>), and the new Svelte app is now <strong>ready for public testing at <a rel="external" href="https://crates.io/svelte/">https://crates.io/svelte/</a></strong>. We'd love your help trying it out before we make it the default.</p> <p>The Svelte app is intended as a 1:1 port of the Ember.js app for now. It should look and behave the same (our UI test suite, including visual regression testing, already passes against both), so any significant difference you notice is a bug we want to hear about. To keep the two apps easy to compare, a few rough edges of the Ember.js app have been carried over as well. <p>Greetings and happy spring to you if you live in a place that's getting spring now!</p> <h2 id="team-meetings"><a class="anchor" href="#team-meetings" aria-hidden="true"></a> Team meetings</h2> <p>After his onboarding, Nurzhan is able (and comfortable) to attend team meetings alone. That lets us split the load evenly while keeping the same PM coverage. We can cover for absences, but overall, our personal meeting strain has dropped by half.</p> <p>This is great! As wonderful as it is to be in the room where things are being decided, help people out, and record the discussions for posterity, it is draining work — especially on days with 6–7 hours of back-to-back meetings.</p> <p>We're still experimenting with the schedule, but we've made a conscious choice not to specialize. We both participate in each team's discussion and get to know people, and have them get to know us.
